Hennessey Venom F5: 1,600HP, Aiming for 300mph
Hennessey has finally (mostly) debuted their all-new hypercar slayer, the Venom F5. Rather than utilizing a modified pre-exisiting platform–a Lotus platform in the previous Venom’s–Hennessey has built their own platform from the ground up.
Powered by an unspecified, ‘all-American’ twin-turbo V8 sending at least 1,600hp to the rear wheels through a single-clutch paddle shifted transmission is reported to launch the sub-3000lb car to speeds over 300mph. On the way there the car will hit 186 mph from a standstill in less than 10 seconds and complete 0-249 mph in less than 30 seconds.
Final powertrain options are still being solidified, however hybrid or EV systems were ‘never considered’. Hennessey plans to build 24 cars in the F5 line, and each will be priced at $1.6 million.
While the car hasn’t hit 300mph as of yet, we should expect the test around 2019.
