All New Mazda 6 Announced, Brings Turbo Engine to Mazda 6 for First Time
Mazda has announced that they will be showing a re-engineered and refined Mazda 6 sedan at the Los Angeles Auto Show. While the above pictures are the only images so far released, the company has detailed the powertrain options that will be available at launch.
The ‘base’ engine is a 2.5L four-cylinder without forced induction, which includes an all-new cylinder deactivation system. The real headliner engine is the 2.5L turbocharged four cylinder first seen in the company’s CX-9 SUV. This engine favors torque over horsepower, and Mazda claims it makes similar torque to a 4.0L V8 rather than the four-cylinder it is.
Further improvements have been made to the i-ACTIVSENSE system available as an option. The most important of these updates comes to the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) system, which can now fully stop and start the car, easing traffic travel.
The new Mazda 6 will debut at the press days at the LA Auto Show, and I will be on the show floor posting updates every night. Remember to come back and check for all your LA auto show news.
