Rolex 24 at Daytona Results:
Yesterday saw the conclusion of one of America’ greatest races, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, with the winner traversing 808 laps, with each lap covering a not-unimpressive 3.81 miles. The winner of the 24-hour endurance race was the confusingly named No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R prototype racer.
Driven by Joao Barbosa, Filipe Albuquerque, and Christian Fittipaldi, the No. 5 car ran a total of 808 laps, or 2,876.48 miles. For perspective that is the tip of Florida to the city of Lima, Peru, driven in 24 hours. This feat broke both the previous lap record and distance record held at the track for a 24 hour endurance event.
In fact, the top 15 finishers in this years race all broke those records, as the race was hardly held up. Throughout the 24 hour race, there were only 4 cautioniary periods, with the total number of laps under caution being less than 20.
Wow.
Here are the top 10 finishers, as provided by imsa.com.
