Nissan Builds Video Game-Controller Operated GT-R “GT-R/C”

GTR

Nissan, seemingly getting inspiration from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), has built a special, remote controlled variant of their GT-R supercar, which they have dubbed the “GT-R/C”. Built to celebrate the October 17th release of Gran Turismo Sport–a game series which the auto maker has been involved with going on 20 years–the one-off car was modified to be driven entirely by a Playstation’s DualShock 4 controller.

NISMO driver and GT Academy winner Jann Mardenborough was the lucky person to put the car to the test around Silverstone’s famous National Circuit. Despite being more than capable behind the wheel, Jann took to the air in a helicopter to control the GT-R/C. On Mardenborough’s fastest lap (1:17:47), the GT-R/C averaged 76 mph and reached a top speed of 131 mph.

Buy Your Own Motorcycle Brand: Excelsior-Henderson Crossing the Block

Brand

In an unusual move, the entire motorcycle brand of Excelsior-Henderson–historically one of the “Big 3” among motorcycle manufacturers–and all its intellectual property will be auctioned at the 27th annual Mecum Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction. Whoever purchases this brand will have ownership of the brand name, all registered trademarks, web domains and the previous motorcycle frame and engine designs, as well as the expired patents.

The show runs from January 23-27th, with registration open to all, with a fee of $100. To view the list of consigned motorcycles, to register as a bidder or to consign a motorcycle for auction, visit Mecum.com or call (262) 275-5050.

A Sporty Chrysler Pacifica: New S Appearance Package Announced

Pacifica

Chrysler has announced the release of a new appearance package for their Pacifica family hauler, dubbed the ‘S’ package. This package is essentially a black-out package, with ‘S’ badges and embroidery throughout the interior. For the modest price of $595, this seems entirely reasonable, and while this price will net you 18″ wheels in standard black, for $995 more, 20″ black wheels can be added.

Dads everywhere, eat your hearts out.

The ‘S Appearance Package’ will be available to order this week and in dealer showrooms this fall.
