Nissan Plans to Showcase Brain-to-Vehicle Communication Technology
Nissan, ahead of the official 2018 CES show, have previewed their showcase technology: brain-to-vehicle communication technology. This technology takes the thoughts in a driver’s mind and converts them into the vehicles actions.
By doing so, Nissan hopes to speed up reaction times by .2 to .5 seconds. For example, if a driver picks up their foot to apply the brakes, the car will read the brain signal at the same time as the foot, starting the action before the foot touches the pedal.
While it is by no means production ready, or anywhere near, Nissan says it is an enhancement that could be made to a semi-autonomous environment that would preserve a human role in the driving process.
Nissan will showcase the technology in Las Vegas at the CES technology show.
