McLaren Special Operations (MSO) Creates Perfect Valentines-Themed 570S Spider

McLaren

McLaren’s skunkworks division, McLaren Special Operations (MSO), has revealed their newest creation, a 570S finished in Vermillion red paint with red exterior accents. The interior is finished in a blend of Apex Red and Jet Black leather. The company details that they were commissioned to create this special 570S Spider as a Valentine’s Day gift by ‘an incurable romantic’.

I think that ‘incurable romantic’ will have a very good night tonight.

Mercedes Reveals 2019 AMG G63 Off-Roader; All-New, Really!

G63

For the 2019 model year, Mercedes has re-designed their G-Wagon off-roader from the ground up for the first time in its nearly half-century life. While we know the major changes Mercedes is making to the ‘normal’ G-Class, the world was in-the-dark on the AMG variant.

Until now, that is.

Mercedes-AMG has shown what happens when the company gets their hands on a new G-Class, revealing the new 2019 AMG G63. The highlights of the AMG-specific changes can be narrowed down to four items: the engine, the transmission, the suspension, and the AWD system.

The engine is AMG’s now-familiar 4.0L ‘Hot-V’ bi-turbo V8, making 577hp and 627lb-ft of torque. This power is sent to a performance AWD system, featuring a 60% rear and 40% front torque-split, through a quick-shifting 9-speed automatic gearbox. All of this culminates in an absurd 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds. Since the G-Class is still essentially a box-on-wheels…Wow.

Even more wow? The top speed is 137mph, which is rather high for such a vehicle, but a selectable ‘Driver’s Package’ raises the top speed to 149mph. WOW.

The suspension is all-new to the AMG creation. For the first time in G-Class history, the front suspension is an independent double wishbone suspension, while the rear uses a live-axle with a five-link suspension. This allows the use of fully-adjustable coil-springs all the way around, with three sets of dampening characteristics selectable from the cabin.

The full reveal will occur at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6, 2018, with pricing and availability announced then.

2019 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Luxury, Updated

Maybach

Maybach is a legendary name in the world of luxury automobiles, and since 2015 Mercedes has worked to live up to the legend with their Mercedes-Maybach line of S-Classes. The formula is simple: take an S-Class extended wheel base–the epitome of luxury–and make it larger and more luxurious.

It has worked.

Shifting 25,000 units since its 2015 inception, Mercedes-Maybach is a success for the parent company, and as such, a new ‘enhanced’ Maybach is to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th, 2018. These enhancements will certainly included special paints and interior materials, as well as updated cabin technology.

However, at the end of the day the formula is the same: take an S-Class EWB and add 10 inches (10 inches!!!) of extra leg room, and fill all of the extra space with comfort-themed attractions for passengers.

While we will have to wait for the reveal to learn the full details of the car, if you are interested in Maybach’s now, than you will be interested in this one.
